Whether you're organising a hen party or are looking for something new to try your hand at, our bespoke workshops are designed to fit around your hectic schedule and introduce you to the world of silversmithing. We provide a mobile workshop experience where we come to your home (or place of work) and teach you and up to seven friends how to cut, shape, solder and finish your own piece of silver jewellery. Perfect for those wanting an introduction to jewellery making or for anyone wanting an alternative and fun activity! In your two hour jewellery lesson you will learn:
- How to thread and use a piercing saw
- How to use a bench peg
- How to design and create a piece of silver jewellery
- How to solder and anneal using a blowtorch (ring and earring workshops only)
- How to finish your design
At the end of the session you will have a completely unique piece of silver jewellery made by you! At present we run three different types of workshop - each available with a variety of optional extras:
A professionally run jewellery workshop from the comfort of your own home (or place of work) for you and up to seven guests. Learn how to create a piece of sterling silver jewellery using traditional silversmithing techniques.
As above, plus the item you create is taken away and professionally finished in your choice of a high shine polish or matt finish. Your piece is then returned to you by post packaged in a contemporary Roderick Vere gift box.
As above, plus your piece of jewellery is sent off to the Assay Office of London for professional hallmarking. As well as the Roderick Vere sponsors mark, your piece will be stamped with the traditional fineness mark for sterling silver, the Assay Office of London's identifying leopard head mark as well as a date mark to inform generations to come of what year you created your item of jewellery... In 100 years time anyone wanting to find out where and when your piece was made will be able to do so! (For more information on hallmarking take a look at the Assay Office of London's website here.)
